Character history

Before Shortland Street

Jane worked as a prostitute in Thailand in the early months of 2010 where she met Sean Mitchell who had escaped there after taking the rap for his brother (Kieran Mitchell) for accidentally killing Morgan Braithwaite. After sex, Sean confided in Jane about how Kieran really killed Morgan and that he took the blame because that's what brothers do. Jane decided to make use of this information and traveled to Ferndale and got employment at Kieran Mitchells bar The IV.

2010

Jane first appeared on screen on Shortland Street when Kieran was seeing how good his new barmaids (Jane) cocktails were. She then appeared a couple of days later when lesbian Maia Jeffries commented on her saying she was cute. For the first week Jane appeared on Shortland Street she was merely in the background with very few speaking lines. Within few days of Jane working at the IV, Kieran found a note addressed to him on a table. It suggested that the author of the note knew what Kieran had done. Kieran then went on to receive another 3 notes some mentioning Morgan. Eventually on 20 May the audience learns that Jane is the blackmailer when she leaves a note on the counter demanding 50,000 dollars. Kieran eventually narrows down the blackmailer to the two barmaids Jaqui and Jane. Eventually he caught Jane trying to make off with a suitcase full of money and he strangled her violently as his anger over the situation boiled over.

Instead of killing Jane Kieran tied her up in one of The IVs room to let and asked her how she knew. She made up a false story which Kieran didn't believe so she told him the truth about meeting Sean. Kieran scared that if he released her she would blab, seduced her to make her think they are a couple. He releases Jane and tells her he will pay her the money eventually. Jane overhears that Henry is scamming Kieran and informs him. Jane then pretends to get fired from the IV but announces in front of Henry she has 1 million dollars, hoping he would try to scam her. He does try to even showing her the horse, but trying to make the most of the situation, Jane decides to not just but shares in the horse but the whole horse itself. But continuing the scam, Jane tells Henry she would rather buy a house. She pretends to buy the house but then pretends it is run down and decides not to buy it and that she should have bought a horse. Henry, eager to scam her offers to pay her deposit so she can not buy the house and instead buy his horse. Henry delivers 160,000 into Jane's bank account and she and Kieran split the money. Kieran then books Jane a ticket to Thailand and Jane leaves Ferndale on 7 June. Leaving behind a trail of destruction including Kieran and Sophie's broken marriage and Henry losing a lot of money.

Jane made a shock return on 25 June, when she confronted Kieran with a proposition as he was closing down the IV for the night. She revealed that she did not go to Thailand as he had wished. She also revealed that they were good for each other and started blackmailing Kieran again to sell The IV and move to Thailand with her. The two got into an argument and Jane pushed Kieran, making him hit his head on a pot. He was taken to hospital with a brain bleed but survived. Kieran suffered bran damage and Jane managed to convince him that they were dating and were about to leave to Thailand but she mentioned Henry and Kierans memory was re triggered. He told her to leave and that he will tell the police about her pushing him, she left, but first told him that he would regret it.
